I just took the pledge. No, not that one, the one to download Firefox during download day and help to set a new world record for the most software downloads in 24 hours. For my own region (Australia) i was pledge 3,535 although technically i should have two since i will download it twice with one to my laptop and one to my desktop!
If you are interested then visit the Download Day 2008 to pledge to download. It really is that easy!

Today was an interesting day as i did more than i was originally planning to and thats not such a bad thing. Getting up this morning there was still some fog in the air and i thought it would be an ideal shot for todays post as when it comes to a daily photoblog, a foggy morning is post worthy.
After that i thought a drive up river might be the idea in the hope that i could get some more fog related pictures, it is an interesting subject with a lot of different possibilities and I like the whole photographing fog idea.
So i went up river but a breeze had come up and the fog kind of just kept disappearing before i got to it. So i ended up going to Mt Field National Park. Its a diverse place to visit as it has everything from rain forest to alpine terrain and the views from Mt Field are quite something on a fine day. Sadly this was not one of them.
It was however still and the reflections on Lake Dobson were quite something to see …

And while Russell Falls had less water than i remember, it was still looking good.

And of course there were some interesting natives …

I resisted the urge to post the earlier picture where her and her “special friend”were in a special embrace. I am not much into animal porn lol.
I also managed to take a decent shot for tomorrow’s See It Sunday theme “Screen”

This morning i decided to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at the movies. The important thing if your going to see it is that you need to go and see it in the same spirit as the first three because if you are looking for something realistic then this isn’t the movie for you. It does tend to parody the first three movies to some extent and perhaps too much so at the expense of something new and original.
I don’t want to give too much away except that the movie was an enjoyable enough exercise in entertainment with the story picking up with Indiana Jones older and wiser than before. There are some familiar faces that make an appearance together with some new ones and a predictable suprise for Indiana.
The one down of the movie was the arch enemy Colonel-Doctor Irina Spalko (played by Cate Blanchet) who turned out to be a disappointment of the first order. She is a top artress but she completely failed to convey any sense of menace and instead seemed to be created soley to be the anti Indiana lacking depth and the ability to convey the threat of … well anything.

As well as watching Waitress last night I also had the chance to watch Mr Brooks which proved to be a dark and sober movie that was also proved to be more than a little fascinating.
Without wanting to reveal too much Earl Brooks (Kevin Costner) is an upstanding business man and family man recently honoured as The Chamber of Commerce’s Man of the Year. He also has a secret double life as a serial killer with his alter ego Marshall (William Hurt). Earl had refrained from killing for two years but thanks to the urging of Marshall he murders a voyeuristic couple in their home.
Despite his usual meticulous modus operandi there was a witness, “Mr Smith” who photographed Earl and the murder but instead of turning him in to the authorities he wants to come with Earl on the next murder.
There are also other plots in the movie. For one there is Portland Detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore) who is the lead detective in the serial killer case (The Thumb Print Killer) who has her own complications. And then there is Earl’s daughter who mysteriously returns home suddenly from college before revealing she is pregnant before the police arrive to question her about a murder back at her college.
I am not a fan of Kevin Costner as he usually in a fluffy, light kind of movie but in this case it was suitably dark, brutal and interesting. I recommend it but not for the squeamish.

I thought it interesting to read that Blackberry users are experiencing some of the same symptoms that crack users exibit when their blackberry is withdrawn. More than once i have pondered some mobile phone users being addicted to their phones. Me, not much danger of that as i have enough trouble as i have enough trouble remembering to take my mobile anywhere with me.

So tonight i decided on watching a movie and so i settled for somr reason on a romantic comedy by the name of Waitress. Why I am not sure, its kind of sad sitting at home alone on a saturday night. Reminds me vaguely of a Cat Stevens song now that i think about it sitting at home Another Saturday Night.
It is a strange movie and one that i am almost at a loss to describe. The central character is Jenna (Kerri Russell) a waitress who makes great pies. She is married to Earl, a man lacking any kind of redeeming feature and Jenna dreams of winning a pie making contest that will give her enough money to leave her husband. One day she discovers that she is pregnant which leaves her less than overjoyed. Visiting her doctor she meets the new Junior Doctor in the practice Dr. Pomatter (Nathan Fillion) and before long romantic sparks fly between them.
There is also a supporting cast of screwball characters that aren’t just odd, they are so odd some of them almost cause pain in their oddness as they annoyed the crap out of me.
Its worth a look but you may find half the cast annoys you its not my fault. OK.

I do love living near a main road. In the middle of the night when the pub down the road closes i get the drunks without the money for a cab walking home yelling
